Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, with people across the country taking a moment of silence in order to honor those who have served Canada.

A ceremony is also being held in Estevan, though due to some changes around gatherings due to COVID-19, it's taking a bit of a different form.

Similar to last year, the ceremony will be held at the cenotaph by the courthouse, instead of at the Estevan Comprehensive School like it had been done in years past.

Troy LeBlanc, the chairperson for Estevan's Remembrance Day service, says that he's heard some good feedback on the new service.

"It actually went over fairly well," said LeBlanc, "We did have a lot of positive feedback because of course, we still had our service so that was the main positive feedback, and we're looking forward to having that again next year."

Since the service at the cenotaph won't be open to the public, LeBlanc encourages some alternate forms of engagement with the service.

"We're encouraging the community to take part either on our community Facebook page or through access communications," said LeBlanc.

Even if someone can't join the service, LeBlanc still encourages people to take some time out of Thursday at 11 to remember those who served the country.

"If we cannot do it in the traditional way of gathering together, at least take the time to pause at 11 o clock and remember those who not only paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms of this country and the freedoms we enjoy every day," said LeBlanc, "But for those who returned and made this country what it is today."

The ceremony will be held on Nov. 11 starting at 10:45 a.m.
