After over 20 years in the making, Betty McGillivray, affectionately known as Mrs. McGillivray to many, is finally ready to share her collection of amusing tales with the world. Her debut book, "Fun Is Where You Make It: Amusing Tales From A Teacher’s Life," is set to delight readers with anecdotes that span her entire lifetime, offering not just insights from her teaching career but also glimpses into the experiences of living in a small town, family vacations, and the joys and quirks of aging.

Fun Is Where You Make It

"I just want everyone to know it does have stories from my teaching years for sure, but I think everyone would enjoy it," McGillivray shared during a recent interview on SUN 102. "There's funny stories in there that everyone I think will enjoy, not just for teachers." -Listen to the full interview below.

The inspiration for the book came during a lunch outing with the Estevan Writers Group, where McGillivray initially shared one of her humorous anecdotes. Encouraged by her peers to delve deeper into storytelling, McGillivray began compiling her tales, weaving together a tapestry of laughter and nostalgia that captures the essence of her experiences.

To celebrate this milestone, McGillivray has organized three special events where readers can meet her and learn more about the stories behind the book. The festivities kick off with an online Zoom meeting on February 24 at 2 PM, offering a virtual opportunity for attendees to connect with the author. Subsequent in-person events will take place at The Penny University Bookstore in Regina on March 2 and at the Estevan Public Library on March 9, both starting at 2 PM.

For those eager to get their hands on a copy of Fun Is Where You Make It: Amusing Tales From A Teacher’s Life, the book is available for purchase directly from McGillivray, through Amazon, or at Lyle McGillivray's store in the Estevan Market Mall, known as McGillivray Moments For You.

With anticipation bubbling over, McGillivray invites readers to connect with her on Facebook, where updates on events and book-related news can be found on the page: Fun is Where You Make It - a new book by Betty McGillivray.
