Gerald “Jerry” Frank Nashiem was born in Central Butte, Saskatchewan to James and Donna (Miller) Nashiem on January 25, 1953 and passed away on December 16, 2023 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan.

He spent his youth growing up in nearby Riverhurst, Saskatchewan. He was involved in hockey, even coaching his younger brother. Jerry’s career path took him many directions – an agent in the UGG elevator, farming (raising pigs, sheep and chickens), working for the CPR and a bulk fuel driver in the oil patch. Through these various occupations Jerry made many lifelong friends as he wanted to know everyone and would talk to anyone.

Jerry was a Scout which led him to be a Scout leader, nicknamed Baloo for 4 of his children. This led to his lifelong love of camping. Many days in the summer Susan and Jerry spent camping with the Southeast Campers at various places in Saskatchewan.

Some family members were very lucky to have projects done by Jerry. Jerry loved to be the designer and foreman of building projects as long as his feet never had to leave the ground.

You knew you were family or Jerry was comfortable in your home as he commonly checked people’s fridges when he went to visit. Never usually took anything out – just checked it.

Jerry was predeceased by his mother Donna (2019), his maternal and paternal grandparents as well as his mother and father-in-law. He leaves to mourn his wife Susan (Helmuth) and six children Chad (Theresa) and son Austin and his son Mackinnon; Shane (Lisa) and son Tyson; Brock (Jennifer) and son Owen; Tennille (Mark) and children Kaydence, McKenna and Alexis; Sarah (Will) and children Benjamin and Jacob; and Megan and her children Clara, Thea, Myla and Ada. He also leaves to mourn his father James Nashiem as well as 4 siblings Shelley (Pete), Rod (Heather), Darla and Corey (Sandy) and their families.

As per Jerry’s request no funeral service will be held.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Personal messages of condolence may be sent to the family at: www.AlmassyMetzFuneral.com
