One of the presenters at CropSphere was Marlene Boersch with Mercantile Consulting Venture.

She gave the market outlook presentations for wheat and canola.

When it comes to wheat, there’s not a lot of positive news there.

Global Wheat supplies are up over the last three years.

"We have increased world wheat stocks by about 20 per cent," she said. "I think that's an easy number to keep in mind and paints a picture that we've have had three years of increase in supplies with wheat."

A big increase in global supplies came from Russia where they hit a record 83 million metric tonnes of wheat production in 2017.

Boersch also gave the Market outlook for Sask Canola and cautioned producers that the stronger Canadian dollar is having an impact on exports.

"Our prices don't look as well relative to soybeans to China," she said. "I don't think that we are making sales right now, so very high dollar would be detrimental to our trade exports and to China."

Boersch says when it comes to canola acreage this year; she’s expecting another record year.
