Sheep producers from around Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta are on hand this weekend for the 2017 Grasslands Sheep Exhibition in Humboldt.

Industry presentations begin this afternoon, Saturday has the Purebred Sheep show, wool show and demonstrations, and Sunday is the junior show.

"I think one of the biggest things we're looking for there is just confirmation for these animals' rate of gains," said the Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board's executive director, Gord Schroeder. "Our industry is very competitive as far as quality of carcass. And so every commercial person out there is looking for the perfect ram to add to their flock and for their breeding program. So confirmation, muscling, and those types of things on the animals is really important for them."

2017 Grasslands Sheep Sale goes Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Humboldt Uniplex.
