October 11th is National Farmer's Day. A very special day where we can pay respect to the many people that supply us with food.
Saskatchewan, the bread basket of Canada is home to many great farmer's. They are responsible for producing crops like; Winter Wheat, Spring Wheat, Fall Rye, Durum, Oats, Canaryseed, Flax, Canola, Mustard, Soybeans, Lentils, Peas, Chickpeas, and many more!
Saskatchewan farmers represent almost half of Canada's crops each year, with Canola being it's leading crop.
Farmer's in the area have been under added pressure this year with last week's snow that covered the area. With some crops still being out, the biggest hope is that the crop is good.
To celebrate the day, find a farmer or call one up and let them know how much their hard work means to you. Use #NationalFarmersDay to post on social media.
