Two streaks continued in Saskatchewan today, one positive and one distinctly less so. On the one hand, the southeast continued a modest streak of days without a new COVID-19 case. On the other hand, the province got dangerously close to the 60-case threshold they've been concerned about.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority's daily briefing showed 57 new cases of COVID-19 today. This sudden upswing in new cases takes the number of total cases in the province to 2496.

Today's 57 active cases are spread across eight zones. Saskatoon has 14 cases, and the province said those continue to be linked to an outbreak at local nightclubs. The other cases, however, still require contact tracing.

There are 17 new cases in the north-central today, the most of any region. The far northeast saw just one new case, as did the northwest. There are four new cases in the northeast, two in the central-west, seven in the central-east, and 11 in Regina.

The southeast still sits at a dozen active cases, with 11 of those in Estevan's region (southeast four). Saskatoon and the north-central continue to sit well ahead of every other region in the province with 110 and 108 cases respectively.

Just 15 people recovered today, so active cases continued their month-long climb as they reached 469. There have now been 2002 recoveries from COVID-19 in Saskatchewan since March.

There are 17 people hospitalized due to the virus at the moment, with 15 receiving inpatient care in four different zones. The remaining two cases, one each in Saskatoon and Regina, require intensive care.

Saskatchewan has now performed 238,013 tests for COVID-19. Yesterday, there were 2483 tests performed.
