New cases of COVID-19 were in the quadruple digits for the fourth time in five days on Tuesday, bringing the number of active confirmed cases in the province to 8,229.

The previous record was 4,864, set in late September.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority reported the test positivity rate was 29 per cent. Though that figure, and the case counts, are misleading, as residents that test positive on a rapid antigen test were encouraged to self-isolate without getting their condition confirmed on a PCR test. The rapid antigen positives that aren't confirmed are not included in the case counts.

The SHA listed an increase of two hospitalizations in Tuesday's COVID-19 update, bringing the total to 121. Eleven patients are in ICU, with the rest receiving inpatient care. Fifty-four patients (44.6 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.
