The Arcola Optimist Club's Snowmobile Rally Fundraiser was held over the weekend, looking to raise money for the Arcola community.

That fundraiser involves a rally where riders travel around 60 miles through the snowmobile trails created in the community.

This year, 407 riders were a part of the rally which is on the higher end of the group's usual numbers.

Rally Chair for the Optimist's Club Geordan Workman says that it was a great rally thanks to the weather.

"Everything worked out right, we had good weather and people wanted to get out and have fun. The snow was good, and we did better than we thought with the number of people that turned out."

While the official number hasn't yet been tallied, Workman places the amount of money fundraised at around $75,000.

That is set to go towards a number of community initiatives in Arcola and the surrounding area.

"I don't know if we've got one specific thing in mind. There's a lot of community groups that helped out with our rally and anyone that needs our funds, we do a little support."

Workman says those funds come from a variety of sources.

"Sponsors were a big part, and then we have our raffle. We raffled off some vouchers for Alsports (Sales) in Regina, so that was a big part of our fundraiser, we sold over 3,000 tickets that way. Then the 407 riders we had given $20 a hand. So all and all it all came together and worked really good for us."

Workman also thanked the Moose Mountain Snowmobile Club, as they helped to clear the trails that the rally took place on.
