As December continues on, one function of the provincial government will be closing down for the winter.

The legislature had its final day yesterday, with MLA's leaving the legislative building to pursue other objectives.

Some of the items introduced included a dental discipline bill, an online gambling bill, and an intimate images bill.

For many MLA's, work isn't going to slow down just because they're not in front of their peers.

That's true for Lori Carr, the MLA for Estevan, who has a lot on her plate since she's also the minister of social services.

She says there's still lots to do.

"I am the minister of social services, so I will still have a lot of duties to fulfill there," said Carr, "Even though the legislature is out, I'm still in Regina for another week to deal with treasury board stuff. The month of January and February we work on a lot of that treasury board stuff too."

Besides party business, Carr says she's also looking forward to spending time interacting with her constituents here in Estevan.

"Even though I'm not actively sitting in a seat in the legislature I still have lots of duties to take care of, as well as spending time in my constituency," said Carr, "Having people come to visit me in my office, which they do a lot of, and just talking to people and seeing what's going on out there."

Carr also gave her thanks to everyone who helped stamp down the wave of COVID cases that began at the start of fall legislation.

"As we actually went into the fall session, as everyone knows COVID-19 was in full force, but because of the hard work of Saskatchewan residents, we were able to bring those numbers down and most importantly the hospitalizations down," said Carr, "So for that, I truly do say thank you to everyone out there."
