The hot, dry weather has created the right environment for Blue Green Algae with fifty animals dying so far in the Elrose area.

Producers are being encouraged to check their dugouts on a regular basis for signs of blue green algae.

 

Bob Klemmer, a Beef-Forage Specialist with Saskatchewan Agriculture and Food, says problems occur when a wind's blown the algae to one side.
