For the second straight night, the Estevan Bruins dug an early first period hole that they couldn’t get out of on their way to a 6-1 loss to the Melfort Mustangs.

Melfort led 4-0 after the first and coasted to their second consecutive win at Affinity Place. The Mustangs outscored the Bruins 12-3 in the two games over the weekend.

Bruins forward Cody Davis was injured in the first period after he went head first into the goal post. Davis did not return.

With the loss Estevan falls back down to .500 at 13-13 while Melfort moves back above .500 at 9-8-4.

The Bruins finish their 7-game homestand with a 4-3 record.
