Five months ago, roughly sixty-nine hundred cattle were potentially fed contaminated cattle feed.

Nine farms in Saskatchewan received the feed.

Doctor Allan Klemmer with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the Enhanced Feed Ban should help prevent a similar situation in the future by removing 90% of the potential for BSE from the system.

In February, a mill accidentally added meat and bone meal to the feed, which violates a 1997 rule designed to reduce the risk of mad cow disease.
