An abnormal end to the school year for 2020 doesn't mean students don't deserve to be celebrated, and the Estevan Chamber of Commerce is trying to do just that, awarding their annual scholarships and bursaries. Today they announced the winners of several.

"We are committed to supporting our community and encouraging the leaders of the future," said the chamber in a release. "The Estevan Chamber is proud to be able to offer three financial awards to local graduates of the Estevan Comprehensive School."

The first award, the $500 Farmer Appreciation Scholarship, went to Marci LeBlanc. The award was set up to help a student from an active farm family moving on to post-secondary education. The Farm Family Committee and the Farm Family of the Year event supply the funds for this.

Kelsey Littlejohn received the $1000 Entrepreneurship Bursary. This is again for post-secondary education with an entrepreneurial ECS student in mind, something the chamber said they feel is important for getting students interested in the business community.

The final award, the Chamber Bursary, went to Joren Dryden for $1000. This bursary is for students looking to further their education specifically in commerce, engineering, business administration, or trades at a recognized post-secondary institution.
