Christmas dinners are a staple for many families at this time of year, and one volunteer group is looking to make sure more families get in on the tradition.

The Christmas Hamper Association has set up hampers full of ingredients that will be picked up by many families.

Charlotte Seeman, a chairperson for the Christmas Hamper Association, says they've done a lot of work so far.

"We're at 299 hampers, and actually today is in the last day and we're in the process of having people pick up the extra smalls and smalls," said Seeman, "The larges, mediums, extra larges, and all of that have gone out so today's our last day.

While that number is quite a bit down from last year, Seeman says that's a good thing, as that means more people are able to provide for themselves this year compared to 2020.

"They're down by quite a bit, but we knew that would happen because last year was a crazy year, like over 400 hampers last year," said Seeman, "With the way things were in the world last year we were hoping they'd be down this year and they were. It says our economy's doing a little better and more people are back to work which is awesome."

Seeman says that the reaction to these hampers has been very positive.

"There's been lots of thank yous, lots of tears, lots of really big appreciation," said Seeman, "It's been really great."
