Moonlight Madness made its way to Estevan Thursday night as the city officially kicked off the Christmas season.

The weather was warmer than the last few years, many families made their way out to the downtown area of 4th street to celebrate Christmas and spend time with the community.

Travis Frank on behalf of the City Council opened up the Christmas Season with the Tree Lighting in front of City Hall.

“We’re very excited to have everybody out tonight. Obviously the downtown district is doing Midnight Madness's kickoff to Christmas shopping, which is great. Lit the Christmas Tree here in front of city hall. We have singing, some hot chocolate, just a fun great way to start the Christmas season and get everyone excited as we start the shopping.”

With the push of a button the tree was lit as the Estevan Pathfinders led by Sheryl March sang some Christmas Carols. And some of the council members helped us out with our sweet-tooth handing out Candy Canes and hot chocolate to keep our hands nice and warm.
