As the city moves forward with its downtown revitalization plans, it is hoping to get some input from local businesses, social groups, and just members of the community in general.

The city is holding an open house on Tuesday Nov. 23 from 6-9 p.m. at the Days Inn that everyone is welcome to attend. There's also a couple of other open houses that are strictly for businesses from 12-2 p.m. on Nov. 23, and 6-9 p.m. on Nov. 24.

The city is hoping to learn more about how residents use the downtown core, what opportunities and challenges exist, and what people might want to see included.

"We really see a big focus on downtown cores being rejuvenated, and we just want to be a part of that," said City Manager Jeff Ward.

The city is holding the open house in conjunction with George Harris Collaborative, whom they've selected to spearhead the project.

"The downtown has good bones. With the help of the people of Estevan, we can build on this to make downtown a desirable and memorable destination, with something for everyone" said landscape architect, Patty McKee, upon visiting Estevan last week. "A road is something you drive on. A street is somewhere you stroll down."

The city has received an unspecified amount of federal money for the project.

The final design is expected to be finalized next March.
