SaskPower's Board has now made its recommendation on whether or not to proceed with the Clean Coal Project currently being considered for Estevan, but residents will have to wait a little longer to know the results.

According to Company Spokesperson, Larry Christie, the process has now been handed over to the Crown Investments Corporation and the Provincial Government. He adds that any indication when the decision will be will be made public is entirely speculative.

If approved, the SaskPower Clean Coal Plant could begin producing electricity by 2012, and would be the world's first near zero-emission power plant.

An excess of one-thousand people would be involved at the peak time of construction; once the plant is operational, early estimates indicate that it would employ sixty permanent operators plus additional mining and contract positions.
