The Estevan Motor Speedway will be rocking this long weekend with four monster trucks set to do some damage.

Monster Mania runs Friday and Saturday at the Estevan Motor Speedway. The festivities begin Friday evening with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

A crew was at the speedway on Thursday getting the track ready, spreading dirt against smashed up cars to make the ramps.

"You've never seen anything like this...there's a Mercedes-Benz, a Range Rover, they brought us some quality cars," said promoter Mike Leslie. "They're not going to touch most of those cars, they're just going to fly right over."

Leslie described what people can expect at the event.

"Crazy loud, crazy fast. These guys are going to fly. This is what monster trucks were built for...is to run wild outdoors," he said.

That said, Leslie said safety at monster truck events is always prioritized, with drivers having similar safety equipment to that of a NASCAR driver.

"Safety is a main concern when doing monster trucks," he said.

Leslie joked that he was hoping to drive one of the trucks on Estevan streets from the Days Inn to the speedway, but the Estevan Police Service put a stop to those plans.

"Yeah I don't know why...it's only 12 feet tall, 12 feet wide, but they said no so we have to respect the good police," he said.

"I just want to bring some excitement to Estevan. Everybody deserves it after the long (COVID-19) stretch that we had, and come out and enjoy, and if you see me or see anybody, say hi."
