The Pickering Panthers are emerging as a front-runner at the 2022 Centennial Cup.

One night after dismantling the host Estevan Bruins, the OJHL champions got a game winning goal in overtime from Ian Martin as they beat College Francais de Longueuil 3-2 on Sunday night.

The Panthers now have eight points and are atop the standings in Group A.

In the afternoon game, the Dauphin Kings, backed by standout goaltender Carson Cherepak, hammered the Summerside Western Capitals 7-1 to move into sole possession of first place in Group B.

On tap

There are three games on holiday Monday. Ottawa plays the Soo Thunderbirds at noon with both teams desperate for a win, Flin Flon battles Summerside at 4:00, and the Estevan Bruins face a must win game at 7:30 as they tangle with the Red Lake Miners.

The Bruins must win their remaining two games and get some help if they want to extend their season.
