June is celebration season for Estevan Comprehensive School, with a pair of awards nights and graduation coming up later this month.

The first awards night happened on Wednesday, with the high school celebrating students who won academic and club awards, which included Grade 12 scholarship winners, the highest average in Grades 10-12, and the Principal's Distinction Award, which recognizes students from Grades 10-12 who attained an average over 90 per cent.

"This is one of my favourite nights of the year," said Stacy Dutka with ECS. "There's always going to be issues in any career or job, but this is that night where we really get to celebrate students, and some of the ones that you really notice every day, and some of those ones that are kind of flying under the radar every day, but you get a chance to celebrate them as well."

Dutka added that the event was jam packed with standing room only. She estimated there were around 200 students in attendance along with family and friends.

The school will hold its athletic awards night next week.
