The season for the ECS Elecs badminton teams came to a close over the past weekend in Whitewood, at the senior Regional playoffs, and junior districts in Midale.

"We didn't end up qualifying for provincials, we ended up crossing over against Regina. They had one school in Regina, O'Neill, was very dominant. I think they've played badminton obviously all year. We actually came in very close in two categories, we almost qualified. We lost in the third set," related Coach Sheena Summers.

However, while the seniors' performance in Whitewood was nothing to hang their heads at, the juniors still cleaned up their respective divisions in Midale, without any qualifying to worry about.

"I had my girls doubles (Kishi Rioferio and Bethany Montebon) end up winning districts as gold medalists, and my boys doubles (Clark Cabiluna and Francois) were silver. My boys singles were (also) silver for junior (Layne Gilroy)."

With that, the book on badminton's short, 3 month season comes to an end for the Elecs, as well as the various volunteer coaches involved.
