The Saskatchewan chapter of the ELKS of Canada held their annual conference over the weekend.

Delegates from around the province gathered at the meeting facility in Estevan.

"It's been a great conference," stated Denis Ellingboe, the National President who also known as the Grand Exalted Ruler.

"It's a long way south to travel, however, it has been a privilege to come and have the meeting in Estevan, see all the sights and activities around the community, and observe what the ELKS Lodge does for the area."

"Overall it was a very well run conference, and everybody was eager and wanting to move the organization ahead for the future," he noted.

"Making new changes to the future is all about accepting new members of the organization and coming up with ways and means to accommodate a younger generation."

Kelvin Nankivell, the President of the Saskatchewan ELKS Association mentioned that each Lodge has their own way of raising funds, such as the 'Chase the Ace' and quilt raffle.

"The main fundraisers this year were the Charity Appeal and the Walk-A-Thon, for which we sell tickets throughout the year."

"This is going to be a big year, and I have a lot of travelling to do. I have a lot of people to meet, and hopefully I'll get some more ideas on recruiting new members," he added, noting that there are challenges associated with a new generation of those involved in the group.
