The Estevan Police Service had a busy night with everything from arrests to mischief.

Sgt. Craig Bird, "We were actually busy last night, unfortunately, ended up performing a traffic stop on a vehicle and found that the driver was impaired, we ended up entering into an investigation and also found some illegal substances in the vehicle. And then ended up arresting the occupants of the vehicle, brought them back to the police station and we are still investigating the matter, but we currently have 2 individuals in cells here for that investigation."

"We also received a call about some mischief in the cities north end, we weren't able to locate any suspects unfortunately but some people thought it would be funny to put some garbage cans in the street. Causing some traffic issues, we ended up cleaning up pretty quickly and there was any damage or issues, just an inconvenience for some driver's for a little bit."

"We got a report of someone going through vehicles in the cities north end residential area. So we did a check in the area and we were not able to locate anyone initially, but we did locate a suspect a little time afterward and we are still looking into the matter. And trying to gain statements from witnesses that had seen it, we'll see how that goes it's still under investigation." Sgt. Bird goes on to give a warning, "We also just want to put a reminder that when people leave their vehicle or park them for the night, you should make sure they're locked. Unfortunately, most often its a crime of opportunity, where people don't lock their vehicles. People just go and check to see if they are unlocked, and then, unfortunately, the criminal element has the chance and opportunity to take valuables out of the vehicle. We just ask people not to be victimized and keep their vehicle locked when not in use. So people don't have the opportunity to take them."
