The southeast corner of the province has been relatively lucky in its bout with COVID-19, as cases have been lower here than almost anywhere else. Today, the rest of the province was not so lucky, however.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority announced two more patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One resident of the Regina zone was in their 60s. The other resident lived in the Saskatoon area and was over the age of 80.

After days of active cases declining, they rose today as the province announced 207 new cases of the virus for a total of 29,432. There were 125 recoveries as well, for a total of 27,532. Active cases now stand at 1507, but hospitalizations have gone down, as 138 of those cases are in hospitals. The seven-day average of daily new cases is 155.

Today's new cases are located in the Far North West (23), Far North Central (2), Far North East (13), North West (20), North Central (13), North East (8), Saskatoon (45), Central East (18), Regina (43), South West (2), South Central (5), and South East (5) zones. Ten cases have pending residence information, while five Saskatchewan residents tested outside the province were added to the count.

Though there were five new cases in the South East today, none of them were in the Estevan area. Subzone South East 4, which includes Estevan, is now down to just one active case of the virus. There are 19 active cases of COVID-19 in the South East region.

Yesterday, the province processed 3,289 COVID-19 tests. There were also  2,789 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered for a total of 86,879.
