This week started off with a bang early on Monday morning, when a thunderstorm rolled through Estevan.

With sights set on the weekend, Environment Canada's Regional Meteorologist Brian Proctor says weather patterns have begun to change.

"The warm and dry weather we have seen is starting to ease off, and we're getting into a wetter and cooler pattern with the potential for more thunderstorms in the near future."

"We may see some sunshine early on Saturday morning before the clouds roll in, but it looks like a significant chance of showers for Saturday night."

"On Sunday, things may clear up before the rain comes back for the start of the work week on Monday," said Proctor.

At this point in time, the southeast could see a fair amount of rain through until Wednesday.

"Temperatures will be in the mid to upper teens to start next week with a high chance of showers," added Proctor, "A bit more damp and cooler than normal but still reasonable."

As for the May long weekend, he says much of the same should be anticipated for the holiday.

"A decent chance of showers with temperatures around the mid to upper teens."

"Right now you can expect similar conditions to those experienced during the week leading into the long weekend."

The classic trend of dreary weather may continue for the upcoming holiday weekend.
