Canada's new Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz says the Federal Government will appeal a Federal Court ruling that overturned new Canadian Wheat Board Regulations.

The new rules would have allowed Western Canadian farmers to choose how they market their barley at the beginning of August.

Minister Ritz says a majority of barley producers had been looking forward to making their own marketing decisions, pointing to the fact that nearly thirty-thousand barley farmers voted and 62% voted in favor of marketing choice in the barley plebiscite.
