The Estevan Fire Department will be the place to go for people looking to pick up a rapid COVID-19 antigen test kit.

Fire Chief Dale Feser said they received 350 test kits from the province, which were supplied by the federal government. They will be available for pick up Wednesdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m., as long as supplies last.

"If you are showing signs or symptoms, please do not come to the fire station," said Feser. "You want to phone the 8-1-1 number, self-isolate, and then follow their direction. These are for people who are not showing any signs or symptoms."

There will be up to two test kits per household given out. Feser said he's not sure how many kits they'll receive in any future shipments.

"Something people need to be aware - this is not an SHA test kit for the workplace, showing negative test results in lieu of getting your vaccination," Feser said. "This is just kind of a self-monitoring tool for the house or home."

The kits are free to pick up. Demand will determine how future kits are allocated throughout the province, added Feser.
