Some much needed upgrades are coming to the Frobisher Museum.

The community held a mechanical bull riding fundraiser on Saturday, which raised nearly $13,000. The money will go towards museum upgrades.

"The overhead doors need to be replaced at the museum, they're falling apart," said fundraiser organizer Sharon Brandon. "There's a lot of plumbing, pipes froze, that needs to be replaced. The lighting needs to be upgraded, painting the interior...I don't think it's been painted in I don't know how many years."

Brandon added that the roof of the museum also needs to be repaired.

She said the museum is a special place for a lot of people in Frobisher and has some interesting features.

"The museum has been there for a long long time. We've got a lot of old farm equipment, just a lot of old back in the day type of equipment that they used on the farm," Brandon said. "We have a bunch of different clothes in there that they used to wear years and years ago."

"A lot of people that lived around here, when their parents or grandparents died, they donated a lot of the stuff that they had in their house, the things that they used, clothes that they wore, the farm equipment, they donated that all to the museum so we have it all on display inside of the museum," she continued.

Brandon said the improvements to the museum are long overdue.

"It has kind of gone downhill in the last few years and I think it's about time that we fix it up and showcase it more. Let the kids see what it used to be like back in the day, how things used to work and how much easier it is for them now."
