The Souris Valley Museum west of Estevan on highway 39 has a big undertaking ahead of them. Their locomotive that's on display as part of their mining area is in need of a new paint job.

The locomotive was built in 1944 and was used in the Taylorton-Bienfait Mine. A fresh look will cost approximately $35,000. Melanie Memory with the museum says tourists are attracted to the mining equipment that sits along highway 39.

Mining is such a huge industry in our area, the Museum would like to preserve the locomotive for many years to come.

Melanie Memory from the Museum joined Lyle McGillivray on Country106.1 this morning.
