An announcement has been made that will benefit Literacy in Estevan.

The government of Saskatchewan in association with the Literacy Commission will be presented the Estevan and Area Literacy Group with approximately 60, 000 dollars. The Estevan and Area Literacy group was created to help foster and build literacy skills in Estevan. The group includes members from the Chamber of Commerce, School Boards, the library and those individuals who work with young children.

As Greg Salmers, Librarian in Estevan explains that he looks forward to seeing how the literacy program will benefit the community.

Salmers adds that the premier has indicated that there are approximately 300 000 workers in Saskatchewan that are gainfully employed but have below average literacy skills.
