Grain Rush Strikes again, with the combines on the field going and moving through the dry season out by Bromhead.

We met the Daae family and all or their friends for a nice lunch of chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, coleslaw, and iced tea. Conversing with a farm family who is also very talented in the way of all things music.

Wayne Daae the family Patriarch was able to tell us how harvest is going, "Well, were between a 3rd and a half done our harvest I guess. And were on duram right now, and it's varied depending on where the rains went. There's some that's been running really good, and some not quite as good. Generally, the crop quality is really nice, hoping for a couple weeks or more of dry weather. It would be nice to get rain, but we need dry weather for our harvest."

When asked about the hail that the South of the Province received back in June Daae had this to say, "Some of it was hit, but it didn't affect the yield too much, the crop was young enough at the time."

Daae mentioned they have a few crops left, "Duram wheat we're on today, and we've got some lentils to do in the next day or so. And then we got some canola and then a little bit of chickpeas."

As to how it's going, "We're optimistic, farmers are always optimistic. We're looking forward to getting it done, getting it in the bin. And moving forward."

Great family with a heart of gold, and thank you to our sponsors for letting us all have a great Harvest lunch out in the field. The Daae's even let our News guy Matt Cinnamon ride in the Combine for a few swipes. A nice windy day, with lots of sun and dust, with chaff blowing in the wind. It was a great part of our week.
