The Swift Current Broncos beat the Estevan Bruins to open their second-round playoff series in the under-18 Saskatchewan AA Hockey League Thursday night at Affinity Place.

Estevan outshot Swift Current 43-24. But Hunter Arntsen made 42 saves for the visitors, including on all 18 third-period shots he faced.

Spencer Copeland scored Estevan's goal at even strength, tying the game 1-1 with under six minutes left in the third period. Talys Brock and Ryker Mathison had the assists. 

Then Ryder Bradford buried the game-winner for Swift Current with 52 seconds left.

Ty Fehrenbach made 22 saves for Estevan.

Game 2 in the best-of-five South Division semifinal will be at the iPlex in Swift Current Sunday at 4 p.m. Game 3 is back in Estevan on March 9.

Estevan swept the Lumsden-Bethune Lions to open their postseason. Swift Current beat the Yorkton Terriers in four games.
