Estevan Bruins goaltender Cam Hrdlicka has completely taken over his team’s first round playoff series with the Flin Flon Bombers.

First, it was a 35-save shutout in Game 4 on Wednesday to pull the Bruins even in the series. Then came Saturday’s Game 5 at the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon, where Hrdlicka took his game to new heights.

The Calgary-born goaltender stopped 66 shots in leading the Bruins to a 2-1 overtime win, in what has to be considered the best goaltending performance the SJHL has seen this season.

The Bruins trailed 1-0 for much of the night, but forward Cody Davis struck on the powerplay after a beautiful feed from Mitch Kohner to tie the game at 1-1 midway through the third period.

Davis would go on to score the overtime winner with a shot upstairs over the glove of Bombers goaltender Harmon Laser-Hume, who hung his head in disbelief long after the puck got past him and had to be consoled by teammates. The goal came late in the first OT period.

The win snaps a 7-game losing streak for Estevan at the Whitney Forum.

And after falling behind 2-0 in the series, the Bruins have now won three games in a row and can clinch the series with a win in Game 6 on home ice Sunday night at Affinity Place.

Puck drop is 7 p.m.
