While work is being done on the road of King Street, the traffic lights are also receiving an upgrade.

"We are upgrading our traffic lights on Bannatyne and King Street," explained Norm Mack, Roads manager for the City of Estevan. "We're updating the control box and the motherboard at that intersection. Also, in that intersection, there was also a traffic standard that was hit by cars earlier this summer so we're replacing that as well."

He adds that this is the perfect opportunity to get the work done.

"While we have the street open, we are replacing all the electrical infrastructure for the traffic lights under the ground. We are looking ahead to making sure that while the street is open, we are doing all the upgrades we can and are prepared for the next steps."

"Next year we are proposing another, matching traffic post on that King Street intersection."

And of course, there is always more work to be done.

"On 4th Street and 9th Avenue, some of our poles and our traffic signals were getting old and dysfunctional. We've had various complaints in the past that visually, that intersection wasn't lit up well enough so what we're doing now is installing new posts east and west bound."

"We're adding two LED heads on each side of the street. So that intersection will be lit up a little bit better and updated and have a better look to it."
