The patience of Estevan's residents is soon to be rewarded, as work is wrapping up on the King Street rehabilitation project that has been ongoing for the past 5 weeks.

"The construction is done," revealed City Engineer Kifloum Weldeab.

"At the entrance to Quizno's there is a sharp grade, so to avoid people falling into the road we are putting a guide rail there."

He added that some topsoil touch-ups are also included in the equation.

"We are discussing the traffic channeling and line painting, and that will take the next day or two to finalize the lanes and paint them. The crosswalks are already done, and people are using them. Hopefully we will have everything open this week."

He noted that the work has been on schedule and on budget to the end.

"This project was so smooth. It's beyond belief, considering that the Bannatyne and King intersection itself is loaded with a lot of utilities. It has SaskPower, SaskEnergy, Access, Sasktel, you name it. Nobody knew where it was, so there was a lot of hydrovacing, and a lot of working between the companies and our general contractor."

"Everybody worked in a timely manner. We are very pleased at how fast and how well this project is done," he expressed.

"We are looking forward to opening it up for the public so people can enjoy what they have missed all this time, and seeing what the reaction will be."
