Something had to give on opening night at the SJHL Showcase in Warman.

A 5-1 Battlefords victory over Estevan pushed the North Stars' win streak to seven games, and ended the Bruins' at five.

The North Stars had three powerplay goals, including two by Jackson Allan, and added an empty netter with 4:11 left in the third Monday night at The Legends Centre.

Bruins captain Keagon Little scored Estevan's goal on the man advantage.

Little was named last week's SJHL Saskatchewan Player of the Week, with four assists in two games.

It's another tough contest for the 9-7-0-2 Bruins Tuesday night. Estevan will take on the 15-1-1-0 Flin Flon Bombers. Flin Flon beat Estevan 7-1 in the Energy City on October 13 in the only matchup so far this season between the rivals.

Estevan took Flin Flon to seven games in the opening round of last season's playoffs. The Bruins beat the Bombers in seven games in the championship round the previous year.

The Bruins are tied with the Weyburn Red Wings for first in the Viterra Division. Flin Flon has the best record in the league, and is the top-ranked team in the Canadian Junior Hockey League.

You can listen to tonight's game on Rock 106 with Jeromy Corrigan. The pregame starts at 7:20, with game time at 7:30.
