On Monday, June 7, the Estevan Police Service found the body of 55-year-old Angelo Galido of Estevan after a missing persons complaint. Today, the RCMP have charged a man with his murder.

41-year-old Gurwinder Singh Toor has been charged with second-degree murder following an investigation by RCMP Major Crime Unit North, Estevan Police Service, Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Sections and Calgary Police Service. He is presumed innocent.

“The charges laid in this multi-jurisdictional file is the result of extensive collaboration between many police services and units – from the RCMP in two provinces, Estevan and Calgary Police Services,” said Supt. Vince Foy, Officer in Charge of Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit North. “When investigative files cross provincial borders, its through these critical collaborative efforts that an investigation comes together. The arrest and charges laid speaks to the extensive work of all involved partners bringing a multitude of experiences, tools and expertise. We thank them for their assistance.”

According to the release from the RCMP, police found Toor at a business on Barlow Trail in Calgary yesterday and arrested him. He appeared in Airdrie Provincial Court this morning and will make his first appearance in court in Estevan on Monday, June 21 via video.

RCMP also confirmed in their release that Toor and Galido knew one another but did not release further details.
