The month of April was nothing out of the ordinary when it came to the weather experienced in southeastern Saskatchewan.

Estevan saw rain, snow, freezing rain and the thermometer getting a work out with day time high's hitting the twenty mark and night time lows dipping below zero.

"It was a little warmer than normal, but nothing notable," said Kirk Torneby, Environment Canada's Regional Meteorologist, "Estevan saw it's 32nd driest month of April on record."

Moving on from April, this first weekend in May has the potential to break some records.

"A lot of warmth to start the month. The record temperatures are within reach to be broken, although it may be tough."

"Looking ahead to next week, day time high's will slightly drop before they pop back up above normal in the southeast," added Torneby.

He also had a reminder for residents of Estevan.

"As we get further into May the sun gets stronger, it's always a good time to think about sun screen and protecting your skin."

The elusive weather experienced each year on May long weekend will be no different this year.

"We get surprised more often than not with poor weather on May long weekend, it's just one of those things," he concluded.
