A series have recommendations have been given to Premier Lorne Calvert in a report on organic farming in Saskatchewan filed by Minister for regional economic and co-operative development Lon Borgerson.
In the report, the promotion of Saskatchewan grown organic food is a key item.
Borgerson explains that retail sales of organic food are increasing yearly by over 20 percent, a number that is expected to keep rising.
There are currently over 1300 organic producers throughout the province, making up three percent of the total amount of farmers, a number that Borgerson hopes will rise to ten percent by 2015.
