Downtown Estevan will turn into a Christmas-themed scene on December 11, as the Downtown Business Association presents its Miracle on Fourth Street.

The festivities will run on the 1100 and 1200 blocks of the street from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The day will include carnival games run by the Estevan Comprehensive School's SRC, a free hot dog and hot chocolate lunch, crafts, a petting zoo, a 'Polar Express, and two matinees at the Orpheum.

All the events are free. Everything except the movies is open to everyone. The movies require proof of vaccination.

"Santa will be on site spreading cheer to all the little boys and girls as well," said a release from the DBA. "You will also be able to take advantage of all the smashing deals and specials Downtown Business Association Members will have on in store all day long."

The event replaces Moonlight Madness, which was a staple at the same time of year with businesses open late for Christmas shopping.

"There was a wish from the membership to try something different, create a new event and make it a memorable one which will allow our community to gather and celebrate the holiday season," said head event organizer Josh LeBlanc.

“This is the third new event that we are bringing to the city as an association, it is in addition to the Street Dance and Night Markets," said LeBlanc. "We know that there is a real demand for events to happen in our community and the more we can utilize our downtown core, the more we hope we can develop into a gathering spot for commerce, community celebration and collaboration.”

The DBA also hopes to hear from community groups and churches who would like to take part in singing carols during the day.
