As if there wasn't enough trash talking and animosity between the Weyburn Red Wings and Estevan Bruins, each town's police chief has now gotten in on the fun.

Estevan police chief Rich Lowen has made a bet with Weyburn police chief Jamie Blunden as the Bruins and Wings get set to face off three more times before the calendar flips to 2022.

"Whoever wins the best of three series here...the loser will have to wear the other's teams jersey at the office for a day, and make sure they get their picture taken for the paper, to make sure we get a little publicity for them," said Lowen.

With the Bruins a perfect 4-0 against Weyburn this season, Lowen is quite confident he'll come out on the winning side.

"I am always confident with the Bruins," he said. "I'm very happy to be in Estevan and to have them as my home team."

Lowen also said they've bought a trophy, sponsored by both police services, and have dubbed it the Highway 39 Trophy. It will be awarded to the winner of the bet.

Both police chiefs will be at the game Wednesday night at Affinity Place.
