Despite trailing for most of the night and being heavily outshot, the Estevan Bruins found a way to come back and beat the Flin Flon Bombers 3-2 Saturday night at the Whitney Forum.

Trailing 1-0 late in the second period, Bruins' captain Eric Houk managed to beat Bombers' goaltender Cal Schell through the five hole after a great individual effort to tie the game at 1-1 heading to the third.

After the Bruins fell behind 2-1, defenceman Nolan Jones tied the game once more with his first goal of the season, and that set the stage for Olivier Pouliot's heroics.

Pouliot made a dazzling play at the Bombers' blue line before going in alone on the Flin Flon net and beating Schell glove side.

The Bruins victory capped an intense, spirited weekend of hockey between two of the league's top teams.

"They put up a hard fight for both games," said Houk. "It's two good teams going at it, but it's nice to get three out of the four points."

"There was obviously a lot of emotions at the end of the game (on Friday night). They were rubbing it in a little and that obviously gives some motivation for tonight. I think that translated over into today's game and we came out buzzing," Houk said.

Houk also commented on playing at the historic Whitney Forum for the first time in his hockey career.

"It's cool, there's obviously a lot of history on the walls here. Coming into this rink it's definitely something different, the way it's laid out and stuff. But they seem to have a good fanbase that supports them...it was pretty cool."

The Bruins return home to play Yorkton on Tuesday.
