Earlier this afternoon, Carlyle RCMP located a man who was suspected to have stolen a vehicle, committed assault, and been armed. He was found at a residence near Carlyle, SK. The male was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Aaron Kenneth Olney has been charged with 11 offences resulting from a report of an assault on January 3 near Langenburg, SK:
- Assault with a weapon
- Committing an assault while carrying a weapon
- Uttering threats to cause death
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited
- Using a firearm while committing an indictable offence
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
- Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence
- Possession of a firearm knowing it was obtained by the commission of an offence
- Theft under $5000
- Theft of a motor vehicle
Aaron Kenneth Olney is scheduled to appear in court in Yorkton on Thursday, January 5.
The Saskatchewan RCMP says their investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
