A man who fled police after being pulled over near Estevan on New Year's Day was arrested in Yorkton over the weekend by the RCMP.

A Monday release from the Estevan Police Service said Dustin Clarke-Rusnack will be appearing in provincial court to answer to his charges.

Police stopped a vehicle at 10:30 a.m. on January 1 heading into Estevan on Highway 39. They tried to arrest the driver, when he fled at a high rate of speed.

A tire-deflation device didn't stop him. Police opted not to continue the pursuit into the city, because of public-safety concerns.

Police said after the New Year's Day incident that Clarke-Rusnack, 32 of Pilot Butte, was wanted for multiple criminal charges, including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and obstructing a police officer.
