After asking the public to avoid an area of Carnduff last night, police have now given an update on the suspect they arrested.

On June 14 at approximately 4 p.m., Carnduff RCMP received a report of an armed individual, later identified as 37-year-old Dustin Matheson on Spencer Street in Carnduff.

Officers immediately responded and determined he had threatened an adult female. The victim did not report physical injuries to police, with an investigation determining the incident was targeted in nature.

Carnduff RCMP then issued a notice at 6:15 p.m., telling residents they were investigating a crime and to avoid the 700 block of Spencer Street. That was later lifted at 10:12 p.m..

Matheson was arrested without incident on Spencer Street. Officers located a knife while arresting him.

Officers located and seized two firearms during the subsequent investigation, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services.

37-year-old Dustin Matheson from Redvers, SK is charged with:

- two counts, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code;

- one count, possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon without license/registration, Criminal Code;

- two counts, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;

- three counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code;

- one count, mischief under $5,000, Section 430(4), Criminal Code;

- one count, possession of break-in instruments, Section 351(1), Criminal Code;

- one count, uttering threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code

He was scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on Thursday.
