The spring and summer season also means construction season. Crews are beginning work on many highways around the southeast including the twinning project from Bienfait to Estevan. Motorists are being reminded to keep their speed down in construction zones.

"For the most part, motorist are generally pretty good about reducing their speed and maintaining that 60 km/hr," said Corporal Craig Park. "There are occasions when people do seem to speed through there. Fines triple, they get very expensive in the orange zones."

And while we may not have to worry about snow and ice, he adds that summer is not the time to become complacent while driving.

"With winter behind us, and improved driving, watch your speed. It's easier to speed with nice driving conditions. Be aware of the conditions and what's around."
