The results have come in from across southeastern Saskatchewan for 2021's Blow Away Hunger Food Drive.

In Estevan, the Salvation Army said they received just over 700 pounds of food.

"That's a lot," said Ronza Reynard with the Salvation Army. "It was more than we got last year that is for sure. As soon as I saw it I was like 'wow, this is awesome.'"

Estevan shoppers purchased exactly 100 food hampers, and the Southern Plains Co-op matched those 100 with $10 donated per food hamper.

The monetary donations from shoppers also exceeded last year, with a total of $2,885 raised in Estevan.

The grand total in Estevan came out to $5,030.

In Carlyle, customers purchased 162 food hampers and the cash donations totalled $406.20. When combined with the money that was contributed by the Co-op store in Carlyle, the total amount raised came out to $3,501.20.

And in Oxbow, shoppers bought roughly 60 bags of food and donated $500 worth of cash. With the Oxbow food store's donation, the money total was $1,355.

The grand total for all three Southern Plains Co-op stores is $9,886.20 in food and cash donations.

Anyone who wants to donate to the Estevan Salvation Army's food bank for the holiday season can bring their donations, whether it's food or money, to the Salvation Army by 2 p.m. on Dec. 24. Donations can also be mailed in.
