The Estevan Police Service and other law enforcement agencies have often said they have no problem driving out to Report Impaired Driver (RID) calls and they don't want people to be hesitant about using the service. Someone didn't hesitate recently, and another drunk driver is off the street.

On the night of Monday, March 23, the EPS got a call of a possible impaired driver in the north end of the city. They arrived at the scene and pulled over a 27-year-old woman from Prince Albert, and arrested her after giving her a roadside test.

The woman, who was not named in the release, was lodged in cells until she sobered up, and has been charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and impaired operation over .08. And according to police, it was way over .08. They say her blood alcohol levels were more than double the legal limit. As such, they impounded her vehicle for 60 days. She will appear in provincial court in June to answer the charges.

On the subject of court, a 50-year-old woman the EPS arrested on Sunday, March 22 for allegedly trafficking methamphetamine will be in Estevan provincial court on Tuesday morning. Bernadette Gunn is charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to comply with the conditions of a release order. She is presumed innocent.

Police also received a call of a noise complaint on Nicholson Road, as someone was apparently pumping up the tunes. Police warned the man of the bylaw and told him to keep his stereo down. No word on whether he was blasting REM's "It's The End Of The World As We Know It."
