The Rotary Club of Estevan held their 20th Annual Lobster-fest Fundraiser on Friday night, where members of the community came together and satisfied their appetites with those buttery marine crustaceans. The lobster showed up in Regina on Friday morning from New Brunswick, where it was picked up and distributed to the stomachs of around eight hundred lobster hungry residents that evening.

Not only is it a tasty event, but it's all for a great cause as well with funds raised going towards many different initiatives and groups across the community.

"Everything from the Humane Society, to the Band programs at the schools, to the Hospital Foundation," explained Board Member of the Rotary Club, Corey Prokop as to where the funds go. "We're committing some money this year to the rink project at Kin-Park. It is our major fundraiser and the money gets dispersed to a lot of different community and global initiatives."

The success of the event could be heard in Prokop's voice as he spoke about Lobster-fest.

"The event went very well, we virtually sold it out once again this year. We had a lot of items donated by the local business community. We're very lucky that local businesses support us and step up every year. All the different groups in the community are amazing year in and year out."

"Everyone went home feeling like the event was a success again this year. I'm hoping to be here in another twenty years saying it's just as successful. It seems to have grown to be one of those social events in our community that every one looks forward to," Prokop concluded.

The total amount of money raised from the event is undetermined at this time.
